WE ACT TOGETHER IN THE CIVIL SOCIETY’S BEST INTERESTS
At the end of the previous year, we received from our long-time collaborator from French-German borderland, Euro-Institut in Kehl, good news on co-funding our project provided by the Europe for Citizens programme. The project has been conceived by the member institutions of the Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network (TEIN), including our association. Then, we can begin the implementation of the project. Citizens who live in the European border regions constitute the target group of the project ‘TEIN4citizens - Engaging civil society in border regions for the future of Europe’. Consisting of 5 fora taking place in the 5 border regions of the 9 project partners, the project will enable citizens not only to deepen their understanding of the EU, but also voice their opinion about current trends and EU policy making processes.
The fora held in different regions of Europe will address the following topics:
-
What Does it Mean to be an EU Citizen? Human Rights, Civic Rights, Entitlements and Obligations (Armagh/Newry);
- Multilingualism and Identity in the 21st Century Europe (Girona);
- Twin Cities in the Context of Civil Society (Cieszyn);
- Confrontation – Integration – Assimilation? “Old” and “New” Minorities from the European Perspective (Klagenfurt/Villach);
- Borders & the Future of Europe - What Kind of Borders will We Experience in Future Europe? (Strasbourg).
During the project implementation, an online questionnaire survey is planned to be carried out. The survey will complement the actions performed within the fora. Its results will be taken into account, as the public opinion, in the process of producing recommendations with regard to the future policy of the Community.
Apart from Stowarzyszenie Rozwoju i Współpracy Regionalnej „Olza”, there are other 8 institutions, members of the TEIN, representing different European border regions, which take part in the project implementation, they are: the Euro-Institute for Cross-Border Cooperation, The Centre for Cross-Border Studies, Université de Strasbourg, Université de Perpignan via Domitia, Fachhochschule Kärnten - gemeinnützige Privatstiftung, Univerza v Ljubljani, Universitat de Girona, Institut EuroSchola.
